Perhaps it is the lure of hoping they’ll find buried treasure in the deep, but scuba divers flock to Barbados. There is so much “treasure” right in front of your eyes even if you never find a pirate’s trunk full of gold doubloons – with tropical fish and stunning reefs to enjoy. Whether you are new to scuba diving or an experienced diver, Barbados will show you a beautiful world underwater.

The popular dive sites are located in the west and south. A few are located close by each other so you may be able to see one or even two in the same day. Barbados is a popular choice for scuba divers that enjoy wreck diving as they’ll be able to see these great wrecks up close as they scuba.

Some of the most popular dive sites include:

Pamir is just north of the island and is considered a great wreck diving site for beginners. It is considered a very relaxing dive site. The wreck is 165 feet long and the dive is 60 feet deep.

Carlisle Bay is a historic bay that actually has quite a few wrecks. This dive site is also considered great for beginners. It is considered a great dive location for the enthusiastic scuba diver. Four wrecks are well known and enjoyed by scuba divers. The Berwyn, Eilon, C-Trek and Fox. As you dive you can see tropical fish, eels, frog fish, seahorses and more.

Friars Craig has a 100ft Cutch freighter that sunk in 1984. It lies in 55ft of water. Scuba divers will especially enjoy a lovely reef nearby in addition to this great wreck site as they take this dive. This is a beautiful dive site with lots to see and enjoy.

If you’ve never done scuba diving, consider trying one of the sites ideal for beginners. There are operators who take scuba divers to these locations and also offer scuba diving instruction.

There is so much to see as you enjoy the wreck diving of Barbados. It’s easy to see why it is one of the most popular activities in all of Barbados.
